Happy Holidays
The Christmas holidays are quickly approaching. Have you all finished your shopping? I am done, at least for now. I say that everyday but then an idea pops up and I rush to the mall or specialty store to get another present. One of my other problems is that I buy many Christmas gifts during the baseball season. So that no one finds the presents I stick them in hiding places and then forget about the gifts or were I put them. On a few occasions I have found hidden gifts well after Christmas. Oh well there are always birthdays.
I can’t help but notice with the mad dash to the malls and the stores many have forgotten the true spirit of Christmas. It is not to see who can buy the most expensive gift or even find the best bargain. Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, not so much material gifts but peace, love and joy. I got to tell you, I don’t see much peace, love and joy on the roads or busy stores this time of year. Let us all be examples of peace, love and joy through our actions and how we treat people everyday. Maybe that one small thing you do to help someone or make them smile will be passed from them on to someone else and so forth and so on. Before to long it may spread and we will see the true holiday spirit evolve in people around town. Make it a point to show a smile, spread joy. Say hello to a stranger, spread peace. Hold open a door or let someone merge in front of you on the road, and spread love.
I will be heading to Dallas this week to visit the Children’s Hospital and I believe that in those children’s eyes I will find all three of those characteristics I am talking about. If children with life threatening illnesses and traumas can be stewards of the Christmas spirit then that is not too much to ask for.
Also, I will be attending a banquet to rap up the Toys for Tots drive to ensure that all children will have a Merry Christmas. Afterwards, I’ll be on a helicopter with the Marines to drop presents off to children in the Metroplex area as well as a trip to Port Arthur to deliver gifts and greetings to children and families affected by Hurricane Rita.

It was great to finally get to meet you at the Toy Drive. I appreciate the time that you took with us. I have the picture posted on my class website, I’m sure my kids will be excited to hear about it when we go back to school.
I enjoyed seeing the shots on the news of you and the Marines in Port Arthur delivering the toys. You had my family in tears by the time you were finished. I cannot tell you how nice it is to be able to have a great example that is in the public eye for our children to look up to. So many children look to celebrities as role models and I, as well as other parents I know, appreciate your example.
I so agree with your comments about the reason for the season. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I would like to say, WOW WHAT AN AWESOME LATEST BLOG YOU WROTE! Second, i’d like to say, you and some of the other guys off the team looked SO CUTE IN YOUR SANTA HATS, MARK LOOKS LIKE A HOT BABE IN ONE, LOL! Are you still doing the toy drive? i’d like to contribute but probably will have to do it next year if you’re doing it again next year. If you’ve stopped donations, then i’ll just wait next year. Like i’ve heard people say “well there’s always next time”. Hope you, the rest of the team, your family, their families and so on have a wonderful and safe holiday season this year, DON’T PARTY HARD ON NEW YEARS EVE! Oh don’t forget to kiss your girlfriend on new years, make that night a night she’ll never forget, oh propose to her on new years eve if you’ve gotten to the point you really really really love her enough to marry her, DO IT, PROPOSE TO HER! Or i’ll run like mad towards you and attack you. It would be seriously romantic if you kiss her and propose to her on new years eve.

This latest blog really touched my heart. I have done my best to keep the Christmas spirit alive at work, at home, and at school (even during finals.) This past Saturday, I contributed a few toys for this special event called “Tips for Toys” that one of the golf instructors was having at ASU Karsten Golf Course (where I work!:) ) The deal was to bring down a toy & receive a 15 minute leason with Jeff or Mike. It felt good to give to someone I didn’t know and Jeff really helped me with my grip; now I can really rip it. It seems like every year people become more greedy and wanting the latest Ipod or designer handbag. Being Catholic my whole life it really bothers me to see people act like this. I also contributed to your Catch 22 Foundation by purchasing the bracelets. It’s great to see professional athletes, like yourself, give back to others. I don’t know anyone that lives in the south, but I was in tears when I saw the aftermath of both Katrina and Rita. All those people lost everything. I wish I could of done more. God Bless everyone affected by Katrina & Rita. David, God Bless your gracious heart. You’re a true American and a great guy. See you this March at Spring Training. I just wanna say thank you for hanging around longer than scheduled a couple weeks ago at the Toys For Tots thing. My Mom stood in line for 2+ hours to get your signature for me on a really awesome 8 x 10, and it’s only because you hung around an extra 45 minutes that she got it.
I unwrapped it this morning and it made my Christmas. Thank you so much! Everything you’re doing this season is so inspiring, and it makes me really proud to be a fan.

As a participant in co-ed softball, it’s great to read your game tips and I’ll be keeping them in mind (using Rod Carew’s batting stance in my first game helped me to go 4 for 4! lol).
Throughout both hurricanes I was concerned for your loved ones and I appreciate you giving us an update on the situations that they have been dealing with.

I really enjoy reading your blog. I see that you have a big heart because of all the good you do. I never was a baseball fan, then my husband and I had gone to a rangers game season before last, and I now have to say I am hooked. You are my favorite player on the team. But I love to watch the rangers in whole. We live about an hour from Ameriquest field so we try to make as many games as possible. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many people. take care and keep up the good work.

I just wanted to see what has been up with you, hope you had a good x’mas and new years. Honestly, i can’t believe its getting closer to baseball season ’06, I CAN’T WAIT! I can’t wait til my families season tickets come. Next year i’ll try to get re-hired by the ballpark, can’t this year cuz my younger brother Eric is getting married in March and of course they hold the training class’ during that month and the job fair is next month which is in Febuary, OH WELL, WELL, LIKE I SAID, THERE’S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR! Troy is correct. David was in the running to play for the Italy team in the WBC, but has elected not to. Italy’s “Pool D” games are scheduled to be played in Orlando, Florida on March 7th, 8th and 9th.

I just found out about the trade yesterday and I was totally shocked. I’m sorry to hear about it, but I know you’ll do great this season. I saw you during spring training. I swear,you get better every year. Keep up the good work! Just remember, no matter what team you’re on, I’m still a big fan of your’s. I’ll miss seeing you next year in Arizona for spring training. I was heartbroken and sooo disappointed when I learned about the trade. I hope you will remember the rangers fondly, and know the fans here will greatly miss you.
I was so disappointed to hear about the trade on our way home from the game Sat. night. We kept wondering why you weren’t getting to play. You will be missed a great deal by your fans and your teammates. I have been reading the articles and I hope you have heard all of the great things they are saying about you. We will always be fans no matter where you play. I just hope you get back to Texas or at the very least an American League team so we can see you every now and then. Thank you for all the wonderful things you have done and are continuing to do for those in need. It is great to have someone in the public eye that is a true role model for our children. Good luck and we miss you!!!!
